Cyber security increasingly pervades every part of global business and modern society. This course is designed for students wishing to develop a career as a cyber security professional, or to take a leading technical or managerial role in an organisation critically dependent upon data and information communication technology.
The course covers all aspects of cyber security. All our cyber security specialist modules include elements which teach the relevance of security technologies to an enterprise risk management strategy. They examine the economic drivers and considerations which should impact any procurement and risk-based decisions.
Course structure:
The course is modular - each student takes a combination of core and elective modules. 10 modules are studied and assessed in total. Modules consist of nominally 40 hours directed tuition in the form of lectures, seminars, group work, presentations, case studies and e-learning. This is covered in a full-emersion, intensive week.
Modules are assessed by Post Module Assignment.
The taught modules account for 50% of the Master's degree. A major individual research project, submitted in the form of a dissertation accounts for the other 50%.An oral examination is held upon completion.
The core modules for the MSc Cyber Security and Management are:
- Financial Analysis & Control Systems
- Organisations, People & Performance
- Globalisation and Outsourcing
- Leadership
- Information Risk Management
- Information-Security Governance
- Network Defence
- Security Architectures and Data Protection
Two elective modules can also be chosen from the full list of elective modules shown on the website.
