Course Summary

Course Description

This versatile, flexible programme is particularly suited to those who already work within a community-based healthcare/fitness capacity, who wish to build upon their existing knowledge and skills. For example, you may already be an exercise instructor, social worker, nurse or healthcare assistant in a nursing home. Those with a strong interest in the subject but no appropriate work experience will also be considered, as they can be offered placements in clinical rehabilitation settings (such as our AECC clinic).

As this programme is primarily designed to complement your existing work-based knowledge and skills, you will learn key theoretical information which can be applied to your workplace on an everyday level. Topics studied over the three-year programme include nutrition, exercise, the human body and psychology. The final year will incorporate a work-based project, and give students the chance to select options based on their existing or chosen interest.

The beauty of this programme is that it can be tailored to fit around your current healthcare-related profession. Strongly supported by e-learning and online delivery, tuition at the AECC occurs over a number of weekends each semester, allowing employers to upskill their workforce as conveniently and as cost-effectively as possible without impacting on your work and social life.

Entry requirements
