About the course

This is a five-year part-time programme leading to the award of a BSc (Honours) degree in Chemistry, equivalent to that obtained through full-time study.

The programme offers a broad and balanced presentation of traditional and modern chemistry through core and optional modules spanning the significant theoretical and practical aspects of analytical, inorganic and physical chemistry.

Attendance is normally one day per week. However, the course is split into modules which provides a certain flexibility in the time taken to obtain the degree.

In the first three years of the programme students learn the foundations of the subject and are are equal to the FdSc qualification .

The final two years cover advanced topics in theoretical and practical chemistry with a research project in the final year.

Successful completion of the course leads to the award of BSc (Honours) Chemistry, equivalent to that obtained through full-time study. Those who achieve the degree may also apply for Membership of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
