Course Description

Training for pharmacists is a full-time duration of 5 years (10 semesters) and ends at two levels: Training of Master of Pharmacy continues 4.5 years (9 semesters) plus 6 months experience before graduation. Students receive diplomas after passing the state examinations before the State Commission. The professional competence of future pharmacists formed by learning different mandatory, elective and optional subjects, giving knowledge and skills in the following areas: Basic biomedical, chemical, pharmaceutical and specialty pharmaceutical theoretical and practical knowledge, i.e.: preparation of the pharmaceutical form of the medicinal product; manufacture and testing of medicinal products and medical and sanitary materials; storage, commercial storage and distribution of medicinal products and medical and sanitary materials; sourcing, preparation and storage of medicines and sanitary materials found in pharmacies; evaluation and dispensing of medicinal products and medical and sanitation as prescribed by doctors in the open pharmacies; assessing the toxicity of single daily doses and the prescribed medicines; assess the incompatibility of various drugs; assess interchangeability of different drugs and offering them appropriately to users; sourcing, preparation and storage of medicines and sanitary materials in hospital pharmacies; evaluation and dispensing of medicinal products and medical and sanitation as prescribed by doctors in hospital pharmacies. After graduation, according to the Uniform Regulations and state requirements, the specialists of Pharmacy received a diploma conferring the right to practice a regulated profession "pharmacist". Training system will allow the master of pharmacy to work independently in various areas of drug production and drug supply; in public and hospital pharmacies, pharmacy stores in, in pharmaceutical laboratories, in control and analytical laboratories, in pharmaceutical companies, in research laboratories and others. Diploma also gives the right to continuous training in order to: obtain specialty of acquiring educational and scientific degree "doctor" getting another qualification in other universities in Bulgaria. The training of students of pharmacy and of postgraduate students in the different subjects is provided in the Faculty of Pharmacy with its own well-equipped modern laboratories for practical training in all disciplines, which guarantees the high scientific level of the teaching activities.
