The degree programme is a four-year course aimed at giving you a broad understanding of chemistry at an advanced level, with the opportunity to explore in depth specialised areas through optional modules. In each of the years you will study core inorganic, organic and physical chemistry, with practical experiments in associated laboratories. Training in laboratory skills is emphasised because chemistry has a strong practical component, whether it is in the synthesis of new compounds, characterisation of these compounds by spectroscopic methods or studying their properties.
