Course Description
The Middle Childhood Education (MCE) degree is housed in the School of Teaching and Learning in the College of Education and Human Development and leads to a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and an Ohio teaching license. This enables a successful candidate to teach two subject areas (mathematics, social studies, language arts, science) in grades 4 through 9. Students enrolled in the Middle Childhood Education program may also elect to take courses that lead to the Ohio Middle Childhood Generalist Endorsement, which would permit them to teach all subjects in grades 4 through grade 6, in addition to their specialized areas in grades 7-9. Endorsement courses are offered in the summer online and face-to-face at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
