Course Description
The Tourism & Events Management Masters (MSc) offers a unique approach in terms of combining classroom contact with a wide range of practical, field-based opportunities centred mostly on London as a destination of choice for both business and leisure travellers from around the world.
Situated only 25 minutes from central London by train, Kingston Business School's Tourism & Events Management MSc programme takes advantage of our proximity to a wide range of internationally recognised attractions and events and their corporate brands in order to give students access to the tourism and events industry at three levels:
- Phantom shopping to provide a front office appraisal of the customers' experience.
- Back office access to managers in order to gain first-hand insight into problem solving, the challenges specific to that brand's management and successful solutions to those challenges.
- Short internships for project-based work on site with a specific organisation, providing opportunities for activity-led learning.
In addition to this experiential focus, the Kingston Tourism & Events Management MSc will also be structured on two other themes:
-
An ethics theme will comprehensively explore current issues such as:
- responsible management and stakeholder management;
- corporate social responsibility; and
- ecological concerns and sustainability.
-
A digital theme will comprehensively explore topics such as:
- networks;
- social media; and
- digital strategies.
