Course Description
This course is designed for students who plan to enter a career in the rapidly growing and challenging fields of marketing, advertising, sales management, consultancy or public relation. The qualification is also appropriate for those wishing to enter a career in general management.
The course offers a foundation in business, economics and quantitative techniques and develops the interpersonal skills necessary for a successful career. The study of marketing starts with basic principles in your first year and develops in your second year with specialist modules in marketing such as direct marketing, electronic marketing, financial services marketing, retail marketing, arts marketing, services marketing and tourism marketing. The final year offers in-depth specialist study in advertising, public relations, business-to-business marketing, sales management and promotion, international marketing, market research, and strategic marketing.
We have close links with a wide variety of commercial and industrial companies, such as Du Pont, GlaxoSmithKline, IBM, ICL, Marks and Spencer, Porsche and Royal Mail, who have all provided successful past placements. You also have the opportunity to participate in a study exchange with one of our partner universities in Europe, North America or Australia.
The course offers valuable exemptions from the Chartered Institute of Marketing's Professional Diploma in Marketing. We are also an accredited centre of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the Institute of Direct Marketing and the Market Research Society.
