Course Description

International Marketing is a four-year BBA programme which is completely offered in English. International Marketing students learn how to build brands by implementing marketing strategies. Marketing is more than mere advertising. For a company, a goal oriented, efficient market performance is not only a matter of making profit but also of surviving in a highly competitive business world. Only if the right decisions are made, only if the best assets are in place, the brand will be the best. And only then an enterprise will continue to exist in the global competition on the long-run.
 

Characteristics

International Marketing contains all necessary professional skills and experience areas, which are of great business value in the international economic process. Students learn the theory, but also how to apply it. Simultaneously they learn how to continuously expand their skills. The assignments include tasks such as product development, market analysis and evaluation, strategic planning in a national and international context, developing and executing efficient marketing programmes or managing a department with an economic and ethical responsibility.

Not only the most familiar classical consumer goods are the centre, also the marketing for non-profit organisations (for example charity or cultural areas), for public sectors such as commerce, banks, insurance agencies or tourism and the meaningful area of B2B-market (e.g. of capital goods) play a relevant role. During the process students will gain a clear insight in classical business management fundamentals and will acquire relevant soft skills.

Structure of the course

Students will study all aspects of the market process, from market research and market analysis through strategic market planning to the operative conversion.
 
All courses at Fontys International Business School have a duration of four years. Each year is made up of two semesters. The first course year is called the Foundation Year and offers room for orientation andselection.In this year students will gain general knowledge about economics and business. After the first year students enter the main phase, which lasts for three years. In the second course year the main phase consists of the acquisition of professional competences in the Student Company project. International groups of students start their own mini businesses. Students pick a product or a service and run real-life businesses until the end of the academic year.
 
During the work placement in the third course year all students conduct a 5-month traineeship within a company anywhere in the world. After the work placement, students return to ‘the Learning Community’ for feedback and additional courses.
 
Students will end the study programme with a graduation assignment. Once again this takes place within the framework of a 5-month traineeship at a company. Students will write their Bachelor thesis under the supervision of a lecturer.
