Course Description

A PhD is a traditional doctorate, recognised as the highest academic degree anyone can obtain. It is perfectly suited for those who wish to go into research or advance in academia, especially to qualify for a career as a professor at a higher education institution.

The PhD focuses on an original contribution to academic literature or research in a specific discipline. The expectation of a PhD holder is to continue research in an academic, social or even commercial environment; basically to develop a new body of knowledge in a specific area. A requirement of this doctorate programme is the production of a thesis.

The SEGi PhD is a very research-centric programme perfect for those who are in the education industry specialising in the study of business management, interested in upgrading themselves to higher qualification. This programme further enhances knowledge, skills and abilities obtained at the master’s level. It generally provides graduates with the ability to conduct independent research.

In the first year of the programme students will be doing four modules in research methodology, which will also cover a research proposal. Upon completion of these modules, they will be expected to conduct research and write a comprehensive thesis assisted by a supervisor.

SEGi provides four modules because we feel that students should have a very solid foundation before they start on their thesis.

The supervisors involved in overseeing and mentoring the PhD students are very experienced. The list of supervisors will be provided upon request.
