Course Description

Political Science and Public Administration, as two closely related fields, deal with academic studies of political and administrative matters. As a discipline, Political Science analyzes the diffusion process of the sources and values in a political system. The issues this discipline examines are power, authority, legitimacy, social class, gender, ethnicity and political participation along with the institutions such as government, political parties, pressure groups and international organizations. The discipline also analyzes political concepts including political justice, ideologies and freedom, democracy, moral values and equality.

Department of Public Administration analyzes the process of decision- making and policy- making in an administrative system. It is mostly considered as executive power of the states and it deals with the organization, administration, and implementation of public politics on a local and national administration level. The discipline, therefore, includes schedule administration (planning, decision-making, organization, administration, implementation, and evaluation) and source administration (human resources management and budget). Disciplines of Political Science and Public Administration have a common characteristic in terms of the focus of social communities on public sphere.

The aim of this department is to train conscious, rational, and effective professionals who are good judges of national and international political, social, and economic changes and who have a better understanding of transitions taking place in Turkey and in the world.
