Course Description

Humber's four-year Interior Design degree program prepares you for an exciting career in interior design, creating and changing the spaces that people live, work and play in. Interior designers work to design homes, offices, businesses and public spaces. Humber's Interior Design curriculum balances creative problem solving with research, practical skills, and technology. A focus on sustainable design is integrated throughout the program. Humber's modern and stimulating interior design studios enable you to master the design process and your presentation abilities, and later to acquire vital professional practice skills.

Interior Design students create and design in Interior Design Studio courses, as well as learning building code in Ontario Building Regulations in Design Communications. Students learn how to use software such as AutoCAD, Rivet Desktop and Photoshop. Community-based projects, field trips and a major off-site tutorial enhance classroom learning and provide important exposure to the industry. In the fourth year thesis course, students select, research, develop, and document a large-scale project. In addition, a paid work placement after third year, either in Toronto's broad interior design community or throughout Canada, provides valuable and practical design experience.
