Course Description
The MA Conflict, Governance and International Development degree is highly appropriate to those interested in conflict, peace-building, humanitarian aid and issues around governance.
It adopts a unique interdisciplinary approach combining development perspectives in the analysis, understanding, and practical foundations for advanced studies in human rights, the origins of conflict and conflict resolution, democratisation, good governance and civil society.
The turbulence in world politics over the past two decades has shown that it is extremely difficult to meet international development targets in the economic, human, and social sectors in states experiencing endemic political instability, violent civil conflict, gross human rights abuses, and acute crises of governance.
In addition to modules covering conflict, governance and development perspectives, the course addresses competing perspectives on contemporary world development, and on key issues such as (Post) Cold War Order, civil society, international relations and democracy, globalisation, political and governance and international political economy.
