Course Summary

Course Description

This MA develops an advanced understanding of public policy and management at national and international levels. The course is grounded in a political science understanding of the subject, and focuses on its regulation, competition, international institutions and legal aspects.  The course particularly considers the impact of international organisations, including the EU, on national governments. The design of the course allows you to broaden your experience even further, through optional modules in political studies, international development and environmental studies.

You will benefit from the world-leading expertise in the School of Political, Social and International Studies, and from the Schools of Environmental Sciences, Law and International Development.  This cross-disciplinary MA appeals to people from a wide variety of backgrounds across the world including practitioners seeking deeper understanding of decision-making processes, as well as law, business studies and politics graduates looking to specialise their skills. In addition to traditional academic teaching methods, we host a rich programme of research seminars, visiting speakers, panel debates and high-profile public events to further your learning outside the classroom.

Our teaching is delivered through lectures and small group seminars which build your employability by honing skills such as independent research, oral presentations, team and project work and critical analysis of arguments.  This course provides a wide range of career opportunities with enough choice of modules to allow either career specialism in one element, or a broader focus.
