Course Summary

Course Description

This cross-disciplinary MA is grounded in a political science understanding of general public policy-making and change. It takes you through the main theories, models and concepts and how these are applied to policy making, comparing environmental, social and other areas of public policy.  You will also study decision-making about the environment more widely, including individual and cultural framings, values, and societal changes, whilst also taking optional studies in politics, international development or law.

The course benefits from world-leading expertise from both the School of Political, Social and International Studies and the School of Environmental Sciences. It appeals to people from a wide variety of backgrounds across the world, including practitioners and activists seeking deeper understanding of decision-making processes, as well as environmental scientists and politics graduates looking to specialise their skills. In addition to our diverse academic approach, we also host a rich programme of research seminars, visiting speakers, panel debates and high-profile public events to further your learning outside the classroom.
