Course Description
Our innovative Sustainable Construction programme mixes traditional Construction subjects as well as modules surrounding Sustainable Development within the Construction setting.
This one year full-time course, provides a ladder of progression from the Foundation Degree in Sustainable Construction or the BSc (Ord) in Construction to Honours level through studying at UCBC for an additional year.
Sustainable development looks at resource use that meets human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but also for future generations.
As clients have become more concerned with the environment – construction methods have had to change. When University Centre at Blackburn College was built construction workers had to introduce new technology : rainwater harvesting, ground-source heat pumps and many other green features into their work. The Sustainable Construction degree looks at all of these processes and more. There is expected to be demand for graduates with these specific skills in the coming years and graduate employment is high.
Part time study option available on request.
