Course Description
The mission of the Intensive English Language Center is to provide quality English-language instruction and cultural orientation to international students and other non-native speakers of English in order to prepare them to become successful members of the academic and social community of the University of Nevada, Reno, and of the United States.
For over 20 years the Intensive English Language Center (IELC) has been teaching students the English language skills needed to enroll in United States colleges and universities, as well as providing instruction to students wishing to improve their general English ability for professional or personal reasons. The center has three main goals:
Teaching the language and study skills necessary for successful university level study
Introducing American culture and university life
Helping with the transition from ESL to academic studies
The Intensive English Language Center offers 5, 8, 10 and 16 week programs throughout the year.
