Course Description
Our BA(Hons) Photography degree aims to help students develop a clear understanding of how photographs can be utilised to communicate and express their vision or understanding of the world. Photography at UCLan has a strong student centred emphasis and you will be encouraged to experiment and explore their own ideas through projects which resolve both practical and critical issues.Practice is at the core of our Photography course. Developing your understanding of industry expectations, skill levels and professional behaviour will further underpin the course. This approach is focused throughout on you developing an in-depth understanding of the medium and your chosen field on a number of levels, so you can become a highly independent and flexible practitioner, both creatively and vocationally. The course is designed to help you become an employable graduate with transferable, as well as in-depth subject specific skills.
Photography has a clear emphasis on the vocational with opportunities for work placements and client based briefs. There are also chances to specialise in related areas, such as fashion, fine art and documentary specialisms, for those with a clearly focused idea of what area of the industry they wish to pursue.
