Course Summary

Course Description

The Bachelor of Computer Information Systems (CIS) is the natural education path for students who earned a diploma in CIS or information technology at UFV or elsewhere. The third and fourth years of the degree program build on the foundational knowledge acquired while earning your diploma.

Through a mixture of theory and hands-on practice in UFV’s well-equipped labs, you gain deeper knowledge of software development, systems and networking, and security. The program provides you with enhanced technical skills and a robust business background to prepare you to move into a managerial position in information technology with a private company or government agency.

To further enhance your learning, you also have the option to participate in Co-operative Education (Co-op), which allows you to combine academic studies with supervised, paid work experience in a career-related field.

When you complete your CIS degree at UFV, you may pursue a career in software development, user interface design, web programming, database design, network administration, or technical support. With further independent study, you may also earn industrial certification from companies such as Sun Microsystems, Oracle, IBM, Cisco or Microsoft.

Or you may wish to continue your studies at UFV and pursue a post-degree certificate in Data Analysis  to acquire specialized skills that will give you an edge in the job market.
