Course Description
The BA(Hons) International Journalism course is aimed at students who wish to engage with global events, gain practical skills and study journalism in international contexts. At UCLan we have over 40 years’ experience of producing journalism graduates who meet industry expectations. Our International Journalism course is centred on practical reporting and writing assignments that develop core journalism skills of news selection, news gathering and news presentation. The majority of this work will be in the newspaper field, although students will also learn how these core skills relate to journalism for television, radio and online. International journalism is a practical course which recognises that there is not one way of doing journalism - there are many. This is reinforced by learning about journalism in international news media and in different national settings and studying political, economic, technological, social and cultural influences on journalism practices.
International Journalism at UCLan is a flexible course, designed to allow you to focus on the things that interest you and to customise your studies to give you the maximum impetus on their career path. You will have the chance to undertake a work placement in the UK, or abroad. Students with English as a second language will be able to enhance their skills through a language programme incorporated into all three years of the course
