Course Description

BA(Hons) Accounting and Financial Studies is designed to provide a sound understanding of accounting and financial studies for students interested in a financial or related consultancy career within the accountancy profession, industry or commerce.

This Accounting and Financial Studies degree is ideal for students seeking to obtain the skills necessary to become a financially astute professional, making real changes, and contributing to the creation of new systems for business, but who do not see qualifying as an accountant as a necessary prerequisite for such a career. However, this course is also eminently suited to those who think that they may ultimately wish to pursue a career as a professional accountant.

UCLan has gained Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) accreditation for its Accounting and Financial Studies degree. While the course is not focused on one particular accountancy institute, learning is student led and you will have the opportunity to gain exemption from professional exemptions, should you choose to undertake the appropriate modules.

As a UCLan Accounting and Financial Studies student you will be encouraged to undertake a work placement year to accompany your academic learning with invaluable industry experience. You will also have the opportunity to study abroad for at least one semester. We have strong links at Central Connecticut State University and the University of Western Sydney, which provide you with a global experience.
