Courses for International Students


Oxford and Cherwell College
is located on three major campus sites. The main campus is conveniently situated on a modern riverside location very close to Oxford City Centre. Most of the courses designed for international students are based there.

English Language Programme
At all levels from elementary to proficiency. Beginners can take one to one tuition until they reach elementary standard. Courses of 15, 18 and 21 hours per week tuition are available for any length of time from 4 weeks to a full year. Part time day and part time evening courses are also offered.

Access to University Foundation Courses
The College offers traditional two year GCSE A levels in over 30 subjects. Alternatively, there is a one year International Study Programme which combines academic study and English Language training. The College also offers a Foundation one year programme in Art & Design or Business with progression to a full degree course.

Degree Courses
The College offers a range of Honours degrees in the creative arts: Fine Art, Fashion, Design Crafts, Media Photography. There are also two year Foundation degrees in Business, Furniture, Beauty Therapy and Performing Arts.

Postgraduate Professional Development Programme
One year courses for graduates who wish to acquire a professional qualification whilst improving their English. The qualifications available include Diplomas in Management, Marketing, Accountancy and Finance and Hospitality Management & Tourism.

Vocational Qualifications
Over 200 vocational qualifications are available at numerous levels in a vast array of subject areas. These include Technology, the Arts, Business Studies and the Creative Arts.

English Language Summer School
The College offers an English Language Summer School held for 4 weeks in July and again in August. It is possible to attend for 4 or 8 weeks. On the full-time programme, there are 15 hours of General English each week in the morning and the option of extra hours in the afternoon.

Teacher Training
The College is also a provider of training courses for English Language teachers. The Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) and the Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA) is available in both full time intensive and part time day and evening modes.

Oxford & Cherwell College is one of the largest state colleges in Oxfordshire. A wide range of full time and part time programmes are available at the central campus in the city centre of Oxford. The range of courses includes English Language. This may be at 15, 18 or 21 hours per week. The programme consists of a core English programme of 15 hours to which the student can add extra hours by selecting from a list of complementary studies courses. The range of complementary studies courses is wide and consists of specialist English courses, examination preparation programmes, plus courses that combine vocational qualifications with language training and general interest subjects.

The College provides not only English programmes all year round but also foundation programmes for those seeking entry to British universities. These are available in the sciences, humanities or creative studies. Art and Design, Business Studies and Foundation programmes are available. Postgraduate professional qualifications for those who want to prepare for entry to MBA and MSc programmes are also available. The College is also a provider of training courses for English language teachers (CELTA and DELTA) in several modes of provision both full time intensive and part time.

As a large Further and Higher Education College, Oxford & Cherwell College also has a very comprehensive range of courses in technology, business and others at sub degree (NVQ) levels. These include GCSEs and A levels. Oxford & Cherwell College offers a range of three year Honours degrees (BA/BSc), two year Foundation degrees and awards in the creative arts.
