Emmanuel Edor, a student from Ghana, studying a
National Diploma for IT Practitioners.
I have had one of the most fascinating and intriguing
experiences of my life while studying in Coleg Glan
Hafren. Strategically positioned about 10 minutes’
walk from the city centre, the College offers most
of its courses with tremendous emphasis on acquisition
of practical knowledge and skills. For example on
the BTEC National Diploma for IT Practitioners Course,
I have acquired skills such as designing and administering
a database, a web site and a networking system for
my own business. Needless to say, the mode of teaching
and learning enables the student to acquire very useful
skills, which makes it easier to pursue a career or
proceed to higher education. In addition to excellent
facilities such as computers with Internet connections,
a library, modern study centres and a well-equipped
reprographics centre, the college has numerous professional
and highly trained lecturers. The enthusiasm and creativity
with which these lecturers present their lessons are
usually captivating and motivate the student to learn.
The International Students Office boasts very friendly
and warm people, who always greet you with broad smiles
that make you feel relaxed and invited to present
your problems. In fact, they are always ready to listen
to and help you.
The city of Cardiff itself has numerous cinema houses,
good restaurants and bars, pubs, clubs and sports
centres to let you enjoy the vibrant social life.
The weather might be cold but the people are warm.
On the whole, Coleg Glan Hafren is an institution
with a difference and I would gladly recommend it
for anybody who is looking for practical knowledge
and skills, in a very friendly and warm environment.

Kushal Dev, a student from India studying Access
to Art and Design
Cardiff is a great city …. And what's more, in my
experience, Cardiff College International/Glan Hafren
is a great way to study. The best part is that you
can meet and talk to every body as long as you are
doing your studies well. Not only that, the teaching
staff are compassionate. There is a mix of international
cosmopolitan environment throughout the city and also
in the classroom, where we tend to meet people from
all over the world. The facilities of the learning
centre and library make it a great educational experience.
I am currently doing my Access course in Art and
Design and am planning to do graphics and multimedia
course next year … each course is supported very strongly
by an experienced faculty. The curriculum provides
freedom to choose and also generates the sense of
industry orientation in the approach, which is very
much relevant and vital in the contemporary world.
I am glad to say that my feeling will not only be
-"been there done that"- but -"been there and done
that in the best way possible!" which is simply great!

Owen Li, a student from South China studying A Levels
Owen Li, 20 years old from the South of China. Owen
is in his fourth year with Coleg Glan Hafren and currently
studying A-Levels and Certificate of Proficiency in
English. Afterwards he is going to university to read
his beloved Economics. Here is his say about the college:
Cardiff has long been the top choice for foreign
students as its people are incredibly friendly meanwhile
providing the cosmopolitan feelings that big cities
such as London can offer. And Coleg Glan Hafren is
located in the city centre!
I found the EFL course very stimulating and flexible.
The teaching staffs here always give students every
opportunity to learn English. I have also leant some
life-long communication skills that could be vital
in my later life. Moreover, the college provides various
Further Education courses which provide a stepping
stone to Higher Education in Britain.
I have made remarkable progress in this college and
I am sure you will be amazed at what it has to offer. |

General English programme leading to the Cambridge
First Certificate examination. She would like to continue
her English studies at Coleg Glan Hafren next year.
She says:
I'm very happy and satisfied because the teachers
are dedicated, friendly and understanding and give
us a variety of interesting classes every day. We
have lots of facilities, including two good libraries,
numerous computers with internet access and private
rooms for study. To me, Coleg Glan Hafren is on top
of the best Colleges in the UK, and it is a pleasure
to be a member of this international family. |
