Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE)
Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE) opened in 1996 and has over the years become the largest provider of engineering education in Oman. Today, CCE is also widely regarded as one of the most prestigious private academic institutions in the country with a student population of over 3,200 and over 300 academic, support and administrative staff.
Working Hand-in-Hand with International Institutions
The college has affiliations with Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) in Scotland, in the UK, and most of our programmes are awarded by this internationally acclaimed university. We are equally proud of our academic collaboration with VIT University in Vellore in India. This partnership has enabled us to offer strong undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in chemical engineering.
We have formed many other partnerships in prestigious institutions around the world. This enables us to offer our students opportunities to work and study abroad in internships and student exchange programmes.
Graduates of the college enjoy a high record of employability due to quality programmes that fully conform to the Oman Qualifications Framework. All CCE programmes meet international standards as prescribed by agencies such as the Quality Assurance Agency, UK and the All India Council for Technical Education. All programmes of study are periodically reviewed by independent audit and a full quality management system is in place to ensure that high standards are maintained. Features of this system include external assessors, Governing Council, Academic Council, Assessment Boards and international benchmarking.
Our Approach to Learning & Teaching
CCE is categorised as a 'university college', as distinct from a 'college', in recognition of the depth of study offered in this specialised institution. Over the years the Caledonian has become a hallmark of quality learning and teaching in the Sultanate, taking an innovative approach to programme design and to the delivery of programmes.
Two Campuses – One Caledonian Family
CCE spans two campuses: the main campus is at Al-Hail where engineering teaching takes place. The Airport Heights campus houses our School of Foundation Studies. Both are friendly and green oases in the suburbs of Muscat.
Students at CCE enjoy modern facilities, including wi-fi, smartboards and new laboratories. This allows us to help you become an independent, lifelong learner as well as allowing for a variety of teaching and learning methodologies in the classroom and off-campus.
Offering Value-Added Education
We take a pride in developing all aspects of a student's personality through a wide range of creative activities, charity functions and sports. In addition, credited professional development modules in each programme help enhance your soft skills and employability prospects.
Building on Firm Foundations
Many students begin their studies at CCE in our Foundation programme. Foundation Studies helps you build your English language, maths, science, IT and study skills ready to face the challenge of the engineering programmes.
Engaging with Industry
Research at CCE creates new knowledge and imparts excitement and dynamism to the educational process. The approach of linking college-based researchers with industrial partners to undertake innovative, industry-driven research has attracted considerable funding and contributed to the future growth of the college. Advisory groups, such as the Industry Advisory Group and Industry Interaction Group help maintain CCE's engagement with industry.
The college boasts many areas for students to enjoy their free time, including Café Forte at Al-Hail campus and Café Heights at Airport Heights campus. These two learning hubs offer a unique chance for students to share ideas over a cup of coffee.
