The Financial Adviser School

Investing in the future is a significant decision especially when it is in relation to your own professional development.
The role of a financial adviser is one that requires professionalism, diligence and excellent interpersonal skills. It provides immense job satisfaction and facilitates the establishment of life-long friendships. If you are interested in ensuring that your friends and associates are the best prepared for their future that they can be or if you want to be responsible for supporting life changing circumstances and plans, then this could be the career for you.

The Financial Adviser School provides an opportunity to begin a rewarding as well as often lucrative career, through our part time training programmes.

The Financial Adviser School has been founded based on the fundamental belief that professional advice can make a real difference to people’s financial well-being. To achieve that, it is imperative that we have a strong profession to meet consumer demand and Sesame Bankhall Group supported by some of the leading financial services organisations, Aviva, Aegon, Partnership, Friends Life and Zurich are leading the way in in helping the profession to reverse the decline in adviser numbers by training and developing a new generation of financial advisers.

Graduates from The Financial Adviser SchoolThe training programmes vary in duration dependent upon the products that financial advice will be delivered upon. The Diploma programme is an 18 month part time commitment and enables students to progress to be fully qualified financial advisers with Competent Adviser Status. Students commit to achieving 7 exams, the Chartered Insurance Institutes Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning plus the Mortgage exam, CF6. Approximately 14 hours of independent, weekly study is supported by a 2 hour tutor led virtual classroom, held on a week day evening. Weekend classrooms are delivered approximately every 5 weeks to address exam revision needs and the development of the skills of a financial adviser. In addition, students will see their clients under the supervision of Sesames Training and Development managers in order to attain Competent Adviser Status, as part of the programme.

Our aspiring financial advisers have had a wide range of prior experience and in the majority of cases, not related to the financial services industry. The key strengths of a financial adviser are transferable across many careers and when students are being considered during the application process, it is their motivation for and understanding of the role which often makes particular candidates stand out. Our student population has included a former private banking manager, public relations administrator, emergency services personnel, NHS senior manager, semi-professional sportspeople, teacher, police force personnel. There is no “one” description of who could make an ideal financial adviser.
