The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), established in 1937, has been dedicated to bringing positive impact to the world’s development through its quality education and innovative research. PolyU has a strong global presence and has academic partnerships with more than 530 institutions in about 45 countries and regions, and a strong collaboration with institutions in Chinese Mainland.These partnerships have enabled our students to participate in exchange programmes during the semester or summer time. Global network has provided our students the opportunities to go for an exchange also for undergraduate research.
PolyU has six centres and collaboration with over 350 partner institutions on the Chinese Mainland. These centres offer variety of programmes for PolyU students to develop their understanding on contemporary China and nurture global perspectives. Our Global Youth Leadership Programme is only one of the examples.

Unique study programmes
PolyU offers a wide range of programmes, which are specially- designed to meet the needs of the job market not only today but also in the future. Our programmes include internships, work placements and applied research projects that provide you with the skills and experience you need to achieve your goals. We have strong partnerships in different industries both internationally and in Hong Kong. As a student, you’ll have the opportunity to complement your academic success with internships and work placements through Work-Integrated Education (WIE) and to be part of applied research and development projects. WIE is a curriculum requirement that gives students valuable work experience in their chosen field either in Hong Kong or abroad.

PolyU is dedicated to social responsibility and we are the first university in Hong Kong to include service learning in our curriculum. This form of education is more than just exposure to real-world problems; it helps to build leadership skills and offers new perspectives on the world around us. PolyU students complement their professional knowledge and skills with community engagement. Service learning projects are taking place in Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland, but also in developing countries like Rwanda, Indonesia, Myanmar etc.
We offer different types of scholarships for outstanding students. For new applicants, the Entry Scholarships for Outstanding Admittees (up to HKD $640,000 for full-time study) covers all tuition fees and a portion of living expenses. The scholarship is renewable for the next academic year on fulfilment of conditions.

Working during your studies
Students are allowed to take up part-time work on campus for no more than 20 hours per week throughout the year. Off campus jobs during the summer months have no work hour limit.

The PolyU campus is home to a series of cultural events. We are dedicated to inviting well-known artists to perform on campus, ranging from orchestras and dramas to art installations. We are also committed to providing performance platforms for our students to explore their artistic potential both in Hong Kong and internationally. In addition to performances, PolyU is an art hub, where we showcase many in-house and international exhibitions.

Our student organisations make sure you're never at a loose end – both on and off campus. We have an impressive array of activities and events, from inspiring talks by distinguished speakers, to hikes in the Hong Kong hills, cultural excursions, workshops and discovering Hong Kong's buzzing nightlife. However you like to unwind, socialise or feel inspired, our student organisations and campus clubs help you find like-minded friends to join you.

Requirements for undergraduate programmes
  • Secondary school diploma or an IB diploma
  • One of the following English language requirements:
  • TOEFL with a minimum score of 80 for the Internet-based test, or minimum score of 550 for the paper-based test, or minimum score of 213 for the computer-based test.
  • IELTS with an overall Band Score of 6 or above
  • Grade 4 or above in English for applicants with IB qualifications
  • Grade C in GCSE/IGCSE/GCEOL English
  • Additional documents depending on the programme (reference letter, portfolio or CV)

PolyU provides an online application process. As departments will consider applications on a rolling basis, you’re encouraged to submit your application as early as possible.
