The University
University of Leicester CampusWe are the only university to win six consecutive Times Higher Awards . The Times Higher Education applauded Leicester’s very different approach, describing us as “elite without being elitist”.

We were proud to be described as elite. But we were equally as proud to be described as a university that is inclusive and accessible in its academic culture. We've achieved success through our distinctive work which is characterised by the following approach
The School of Law
A student in the library at the University of LeicesterThe School consistently features among the top law schools in the country. This is because we are committed to offering the best legal education, we continually strive to deliver research and writing to the highest international standards and our graduates are highly regarded both by the legal professions and a wide range of employers.

We also consistently perform well in the National Student Survey (NSS), which focuses on undergraduate teaching. In the 2011 results, we were ranked in the top 15 of University Law Schools and recorded an overall satisfaction score of 93%.

The School is large, friendly and cosmopolitan with an international outlook. We have over 55 members of research active staff all of whom teach on one or more of the School’s programmes. The School has extensive links with the wider community, both nationally and internationally, as researchers, consultants, speakers, members of societies and professional bodies and of advisory and select committees.

The School currently offers five campus-based and two distance learning LLMs.  Our students are supported in their learning by high quality teaching by experienced tutors with strong professional academic backgrounds. Teaching is delivered in small group seminar classes and supplemented with extensive and up-to-date teaching materials both in hard copy and web-based media. The range and number of modules available enables students to develop and refine their expertise in their chosen field of study.
Programmes on offer
LLM
In addition to our LLM General Law programme, specialist LLM degrees are offered in the following subject areas:

Research Degrees
The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Philosophy (MPhil) are offered under expert supervision with dedicated computer facilities for the law school’s research students. A research degree can be pursued via campus or distance learning routes. We regularly have scholarships available and information on these can be found here
Teaching and Assessment
We offer a wide range of LLM modules on both the campusand distance learning programmes. Many of our academic and teaching staffare either leading experts or practitioners in their field. We focus on research based learning so most assessment on the LLM is by coursework although some modules may be assessed by presentation, examination or journal of seminars known as a ‘reflective log’.
Fees and Scholarships
