English as a Second Language International (ESLI) is a comprehensive, academic language program specifically designed for university bound students.  For more than 20 years, ESLI has provided international students with an opportunity to fulfil their dreams of studying on a North American University campus.

Qualified ESLI students will also benefit from our scholarships - scholarships that are available for the full term of their degree program!  As well, students bound for graduate programs may write the GMAT and GRE in their final term of their ESLI program.  Best of all, every ESLI student receives their admission before they leave their home country. 

Located on the campuses where our students will study, ESLI offers every student a full university experience:  dormitory accommodation, student cards and access to all facilities and programs on the campus.  Our rigorous academic English training and academic integration ensure a seamless transition to your studies and to your success.

Campus
UMD’s campus consists of more than 50 buildings on 244 acres overlooking Lake Superior, all built since 1948. Most UMD buildings are connected by concourses or hallways, providing easy access for students with disabilities and convenience for all students year round.

UMD is also home for the Tweed Museum of Art, the Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium, Weber Music Hall, and the Marshall Performing Arts Center.

Other facilities include the Research and Field Studies Center, Glensheen Historic Estate, the Lower Campus, the Large Lakes Observatory, the Natural Resources Research Institute, and the new Bagley Classroom.

UMD has 11,729 students, with approximately 304 international students from 41 countries.
