Three academic schools
Glasgow Caledonian University is made up of three schools:
These schools contain state-of-the-art laboratories and a number of renowned centres of excellence.
GCU has a well established reputation for providing high-quality teaching, learning and research which dates back throughout its founding institutions to 1875. All undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are designed to offer students an effective combination of academic study and practical experience and are often delivered by industry experts.
Designed for graduate success
Our courses focus on employability and 94% of our graduates are in full-time work or further study within six months of graduating.
The university has built strong links with industry and a great deal of the companies we deal with are world leaders in their field. Many of these are employers of GCU graduates and placement students. They also work closely with the university on research and consultancy projects and have a strong input into the design and structure of academic programmes.
Where possible our programmes are accredited by industry bodies, ensuring an industry standard of learning which is relevant to the changing needs of the employment market.
Fantastic student experience
The busy campus is self–contained and situated right in the heart of the lively and welcoming city of Glasgow. Students are never more than a short walk from shops, bars, galleries, cinemas, bus and train stations. And our student accommodation complex, Caledonian Court, is right across the road.
The hub of the campus is the striking Saltire Centre, home to the university library, the Base student support desk and flexible study spaces for 1,800 students.
Free Wi-Fi and a wide range of coffee shops and social spaces mean you are never short of a space in which to study. You can also take time out of your studies to work out or recharge at Arc, GCU’s sport and leisure complex.
GCU offers one of the best learning environments in the UK, and is an extremely welcoming and friendly place in which to study. We operate an open-door policy where students can drop in to talk with staff without an appointment and most students are on first-name terms with their lecturers.
We take great pride in providing exceptional student support, offering a full range of services to help make our students’ time at the university fulfilling and enjoyable. Overseas students are offered additional support and advice through our award-winning International Student Support Service.
The GCU Students' Association offers a wide variety of clubs and societies. There are plenty of opportunities for students to get involved in a wide range of activities and meet new people.
