VAN AMSTERDAM
The
predecessor of the Universiteit van Amsterdam, the Athenaeum
Illustre was founded in Amsterdam in 1632 to educate
students in Trade and Philosophy. Nowadays the Universiteit
van Amsterdam is one of the major comprehensive universities
in Europe with 22,000 student.
There
are seven faculties covering humanities, social and
behavioral sciences, law, economics and business, medicine
and dentistry, and science, which offer a comprehensive
range of academic study programmes. The university’s
fundamental academic research is top of the international
league in many respects. The applied research programmes
are often of an interdisciplinary nature and often focus
on social issues. The UvA aims to offer an inspiring,
broadly oriented international academic environment
and is characterized by a critical, creative and international
atmosphere, openminded and strongly engaged with society.
Because the UvA is located in both historic and modern
buildings spread throughout the city, the university
forms an integral part of the city of Amsterdam.
Faculty
of Economics and Econometrics
The Faculty of Economics and Econometrics was established
in 1922, starting with 111 students. It now has some
3000 students and is housed in the center of Amsterdam
with excellent facilities, including computer and library
services and a restaurant. The Faculty has an excellent
national and international reputation and has a large
international network in research and education study
abroad programmes. It has a top-ten ranking in research
among European Economic departments.
The
Faculty offers eleven International Programmes
All programmes start every year in September (except
the Certifi cate Programme). The English requirements
are IELTS scores 6,5 or TOEFL 6.00 (250 computer based).

Accommodation is guaranteed for all foreign students.
