Cal State Hayward has approximately 13,000 students and is a part of the 23 campus California State University System, the largest system of higher education in the United States. The City of Hayward is located less than 30 minutes away from San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland and Berkeley. Our Hayward campus is located on rolling hills, with a spectacular view of the San Francisco Bay. The university is also within close proximity to Silicon Valley. The world's epicenter for information technology and software development.

The San Francisco Bay Area is arguably the most culturally and ethnically diverse region in the USA. In addition to the rich cultural and entertainment options available in the Bay Area, California State University, Hayward is within a few hours drive of some of the nation's top resort areas; including Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley, Monterey Peninsula and the world famous Yosemite National Park.

The campus is served by a good public transportation system, with a free shuttle service between the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Station and the campus. BART provides 20-hour per day services to several Bay Area cities.

Center For International Education
The Center for International Education (CIE) is a full service office for international students. We help new students make the transition to their new environment and provide on-going support for approximately 500 undergraduate and graduate international students. Among the services offered by the CIE are pre-departure advising, orientation, counselling, advice on immigration issues, and assistance with an on and off campus employment. CIE also works with many offices on campus to provide timely and important services to international students.

Undergraduate Admission
Minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 525 if you are an undergraduate, or attended school at the secondary level, or above, for 3 year full-time where English was the medium instruction.

Must also meet the following requirements:
First-Time Freshman

  • 12 years elementary & Secondary Schooling

  • Grade B or higher

  • Transfer Students

  • Less than 56 semester (84 quarter) transferable units

  • Minimum GPA of 2.0 or 'B' if other grading system

  • 56 or more semester (84 quarter) transferable units

  • Minimum GPA of 2.4 or 'B' if other grading system.

Graduate Admission
Minimum TOEFL score of 550, or a graduate of a US College or University, or an English medium of instruction.

Completion of four-year college course of study or equivalent academic preparation;

GPA of at least 2.5 in the last 90 quarter (60 semester) units you attempted;

Must also meet other standards for graduate study, which may include a qualifying examination established by the department of your major.

Note: Immigration regulations require a minimum of 12 units for undergraduates and 8 units for graduates. California State University policy requires all F and J visa international students to maintain health insurance at required levels of coverage.

Housing
You can choose from a variety of housing options, ranging from Pioneer Heights. Which provides comfortable, affordable and fully furnished apartments on-campus, to College Park Carlos Bee Hall, a well-equipped residence hall with all the convenience of modern living, to private off campus apartments within walking distance of the university.
