“iSLI mainly focuses on System Level
Integration. The modules offered by iSLI are the main
reason for me choosing to study here and I frankly could
not find a better structured course in any other
university. Before arriving at iSLI I had prepared
myself to expect the worst being ignorant of what I
would have to face but the welcome I got upon arrival is
something that probably no one would get from any other
university. The whole iSLI team have been
extremely friendly and we do not get the chance to feel
lonely or out of place in this whole new atmosphere.
iSLI being a joint venture of the four main
universities in Scotland, Edinburgh, Glasgow,
Heriot-Watt and Strathclyde gives us the students the
opportunity to use the facilities of all of these
universities as and when we require. iSLI provide
a separate work station for each student including a
desktop PC. iSLI has a mini library which has all
the books one would require during their studies though
access can be gained to any of the partner university
libraries. The iSLI library also has access to the
British Library which offers a range of books.
The modules at iSLI are taught by experienced
professors from the four partner universities and we get
direct access to the lecture notes via the
intranet. Study is not about the same boring old
theory anymore as the whole course is practically
orientated and gives students an idea of how our studies
fit into today’s field of technology.
I am glad to have taken this decision in my life to
come and study at iSLI and I am really happy to be part
of this family. I hope to make full use of my time
here and give it my very best.”

2008-09 “My experience at iSLI has been
great right from the moment I arrived, induction week
through to the beginning of my classes. Induction
week is one week that I will never forget; we had loads
of fun especially the bowling and the tour of the four
partner universities.
I found the staff at iSLI to be really helpful from
helping find accommodation to assisting with any
background study if it was required. The
professors who deliver the modules come from the four
partner universities plus industry. I have found
this to be really good as it gives a deeper insight not
only on what we study from a book but also what lies
beyond in industry. We also have our very own
work-stations where we use the design tools to do our
labs and assignments as well as keeping up to date on
events and keeping in touch with our professors.
The library at iSLI provides all the books and staff are
happy to source other books if required. I am
finding the stay at iSLI to be fruitful and informative
and if I were to sum up iSLI in a few words I would say
it is “The best of the four universities in
one.” |
