School of Philosophy

The School of Philosophy at the University of Leeds is the largest unitary Philosophy School in the United Kingdom, with a proven record in international quality research and a maximum score in teaching quality assessment. We are a large and friendly school with a wide range of courses and a long record of providing quality education and warm hospitality to international students. Leeds is a dynamic and exciting city in the heart of some of England’s finest scenery.

The School offers undergraduate and graduate study in Philosophy and in the History and Philosophy of Science (HPS), as follows:

Undergraduate Courses (3 years full-time) leading to a Bachelor of Arts in:
• Philosophy or HPS Single Honours
• Philosophy or HPS Joint Honours ..with many other subjects (including ..each other)

Taught courses (1 year full-time) leading to a Master of Arts in:
• Philosophy • HPS
• Healthcare Ethics

Study leading to a Master of Arts by research (1 year full-time) in any of the above subjects.

Study leading to a Doctor of Philosophy (3 years full-time) in any of the above subjects
