students graduating from Edinburgh’s Telford College
with a Higher National Diploma can apply to stay on and work
in Scotland for an additional two years under the government’s
Fresh Talent: Working in Scotland scheme.
The
People
Edinburgh’s Telford College is one of the UK’s
largest colleges with over 20,000 students and has over 10
years experience working with International students recruited
from over 60 countries worldwide. Students from all walks
of life and academic background are one of the College’s
trademarks with the International community playing a strong
role in developing the College’s culture. With over
600 staff, support really is on hand with a broad range of
expertise and skills, staff work with students to create a
unique learning community at Edinburgh’s Telford College.
The
Place
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and is in one of the
country’s most accessible locations. Edinburgh International
airport offers flights to many European and International
destinations. With an excellent transport system Edinburgh
is made up of rail and bus networks that operate 24/7 across
the city. A bustling city that continues to develop and diversify,
it is home to hundreds of pubs, cafes, restaurants, clubs
and leisure activities.
You probably know Edinburgh for its architecture,
culture and fantastic New Year (Hogmanay) celebrations. Hosting
the Edinburgh International Festival and Edinburgh Fringe
Festival, Edinburgh’s culture is not just embedded in
its history - it comes to life through the many year-round
events.
The
College
By the summer of 2006 Edinburgh’s Telford College will
occupy a custom-built state of the art £80 million complex
in North Edinburgh’s new Waterfront development. More
importantly for students, the campus has been designed to
make the process of learning as comfortable, enjoyable and
effective as possible in a bright and airy learning environment.
Fantastic new facilities that will utilise the most modern
technology and design to create a college like no other.
The College provides two types of accommodation
for students with Halls of Residence at another Edinburgh
college and various lodging accommodation within the city.
Depending on your individual requirements the International
team is on hand to organise the best option for you.
The
Courses
Edinburgh’s Telford College provides flexibility to
ensure that every student’s individual needs and wants
are considered, with a broad range of courses available offering
academic, vocational and professional qualifications. Courses
range from Creative Arts to Computing, Science to Sport, Hair
& Beauty to Building & Engineering, and a wide range
of English and English+ courses. There are courses at all
levels: from Access and Foundation courses for University,
Higher National Certificate and Diploma courses to a range
of Preparation for Masters courses.
The
Costs
We will help you to combine work and fun with Scholarship
opportunities and a ‘Jobzone’ service to help
you find part-time work to fund your living expenses and social
activities. With a structured induction programme for all
International students and a dedicated support service to
help with your accommodation, finances, healthcare and social
life, there really is someone on hand to help with all aspects
of your study.
