Apart from
the university, Tilburg city has plenty to offer. It is the Netherlands'
sixth city and has a population of 200,000, of which 25,000 are
students. The city has a rich cultural life, with plenty of entertainment
and leisure activities. Major cities such as Amsterdam, Brussels,
Paris and Cologne are all only a few hours away by train or car.

Dutch higher education is internationally recognized to be of excellent
quality. The Netherlands has a vibrant economy, with a very strong
international orientation and a high level of English language throughout
the whole country.
Number one
In the 1999 rankings
by the authoritative Elsevier Magazine and the Dutch Guide to Higher
Education (supported by the Ministry of Education), Tilburg University's
Faculty of Economics and Business Administration is ranked number
one for economics (including business). In addition, the Faculty
is consistently listed at the top of the European rankings in terms
of quality of education and research.
Programs
of study
The Faculty
offers two four-year programs: International Business (IB) and International
Economics & Finance (IEF). International business and finance
are special fields in economics, focussing on all the international
aspects of business, economics, and finance. They provide an excellent
foundation for those who are interested in pursuing an international
career.
Master's degree
Our international
programs combine a strong foundation in economics, mathematics,
and statistics with in-depth knowledge of accounting, management,
corporate finance, and marketing. The programs provide a strong
basis in mathematics, statistics, and business administration combined
with a thorough knowledge of economics and finance. After successful
completion of all requirements, students are awarded a Master's
degree (MA).
Characteristics
The programmes
provide a creative and interactive learning experience in the classroom
through lectures, case studies, group projects and discussions.
Modules are offered for learning other skills, such as presentation
skills, writing skills, and various management skills. The programs
are the only four-year programs at Tilburg University, which are
entirely taught in English. English writing and presentation skills
are especially emphasized. The programmes also require the students
to select a second language from the options of French, German and
Spanish. Furthermore, students are encouraged to participate in
international exchange programmes with partner universities abroad.
Tuition fee (partly)
refunded for EU students
The yearly tuition
fee is Dfl. 2900 (US$ 1600; Euro 1320). This tuition fee may be
partly refunded to students from European Union member states. The
university will assist students in obtaining reimbursement if applicable.
Stuyding in the Netherlands is therefore free for many students!
Accommodation
The university
can provide foreign students with accommodation. The rental fee
for a room in a university hall of residence is about Dfl. 500 (US$
250; Euro 225) a month. However, cheaper accommodation can often
be found in the city. The cost of living, in addition to accommodation,
is about Dfl. 700 (US$ 350; Euro 320) a month.
