Unity Hall is UTPA Residence Life’s newest residential facility and closest to our award-winning Wellness and Recreational Sports Complex.

There are also Living-Learning Communities in our Heritage Hall residential facility where student communities generally share floors, attend classes together and ultimately, study together. Whether to enhance your career opportunities, to learn about the most current practices in international business or whether you want a rewarding career in higher education, the College of Business Administration at UTPA has a program for you. Each business program is delivered by highly qualified academic professionals from around the world who focus on bringing you the latest trends and findings from international business research in a culturally rich environment.

Classes are taught in four modern facilities, which house state-of-the-art resources, to give you the best university experience possible.  Additionally, the University of Texas- Pan American Costal Studies Lab, located on South Padre Island, serves the missions of university education, coastal research and public services.

The faculty has been carefully chosen to be sure they have the latest technical knowledge and skills needed in the 21st century.  They all have personal motivation to work with our students to help them achieve success.

College of Engineering and Computer Science
We boast outstanding faculty, innovative programs and state-of-the art facilities.  Smaller classrooms and labs mean more direct interaction with leading researchers and opportunities to participate in cutting edge research. College of Health Science and Human Services

A holistic approach to health and human services care is a shared value among all of our disciplines. You will have the opportunity to work alongside our faculty, many of whom have been nationally recognized for numerous publications and awards. We are a college that prides itself in its focus on hands-on, field-based learning.  Internships, practicum, clinical rotations, and other field-based experiences are an integral part of learning in all our programs.  Clinically-based learning experiences occur regularly in over 600 affiliated sites within the Rio Grande Valley and beyond.

The English Language Institute

Established in 1982, the UTPA English Language Institute (ELI) provides English language instruction to students, professionals and other individuals whose first language is not English.  It enhances ESL students' ability to participate successfully in an American cultural environment; and academically prepares students to pursue a degree at an American university. 

The institute has two state-of-the-art audio labs and dynamic instructors. Upon completion of the program, students will have acquired a level of English that will enhance their opportunities for advancement. 

ELI offers 5 eight- week sessions (Fall I, Fall II, Spring I, Spring II, Summer I) and a three (3) week Summer II program for adults.  A Special Children’s Program is also offered in the summer for students eight years and older.

Students who complete the highest level of ELI will also be exempt from taking the TOEFL or IELTS, if applying to graduate programs at UTPA.
