Christine Azunmendi

Country: United States
College:
University of Canberra, Australia

US student Christine Azurmendi chose to study at the University of Canberra partly because of the size of the institution, which has around 8000 students.

"I didn't want to be at a huge school, where it might be difficult to get to know people," said Christine. Of course, the strength of the course also helped - Christine is studying for a Masters in International Business. "UC offers practical courses rather than courses that just teach theory. I feel like I will be able to understand what to do in the real world because I've had practice in my classes dealing with the real world," she said. "Classes are smaller so you have more one on one time with the lecturer," she added.

Christine is also impressed with the city of Canberra, which offers many advantages for students, especially international students. "Canberra is a great place to live. It is a quiet enough city to study in, but with enough to do that you don't ever get bored. There are so many international students, you have the opportunity to meet people from all over the world.

Christine also appreciates the practical nature of her course. "Most of my lecturers work in the field that they teach in so they have real examples to share," she said.

Adrian says one of the best things about UC is the entire university environment.
“The residences, the learning and the social environment - they all make up a culture in itself,” says Adrian.

“The people are friendly, the air is fresh, there is plenty of wide open space. The quality of life here is good. It’s really conducive to study,” he says.On the study side of the equation, Adrian is impressed by his lecturers and the course, particularly the fact that the focus is on applied knowledge. It also helps that there is international recognition of the course - Adrians degree is accredited with the American-based International Advertising Association.

Adrian believes his UC degree will give him a firm footing when he graduates.
“I’ve learnt to think and apply instead of going to the book. Flexibility and the ability to think on your feet in the working world is important,” he says.

Dewan Md Foezullah

Country: Bangladesh
College: Australian National University, Australia

The ANU had always been my favourite choice. Its Faculty of Law attracted me because of its renown teaching excellence and distinctive academic record. Being located in the national capital; it also offers students the opportunity to attend high-profile workshops and seminars which are extra bonus for me. Studying laws is very exciting. We discuss issues and problems and share our views among classmates, senior students and the lecturers. Here education is an inter-active process. Studying at the ANU is an exciting, challenging and enjoyable experience. It is for me; will also be for you.
